Any entering graduate student in the field or allied fields will do well to have this tome on their shelf. Many groups use this as the reference for their own research and a cursory glance will tell you why. Filled to the brim with seminal references and on just about every topic imaginable. This book is the organometallic equivalent to organic's Carey and Sundberg's Advanced Organic Chemistry. Great text to bring anyone up to speed in the field while pulling double duty as the first stop for researchers.

I liked it because it was a book that was difficult to read, yet it did a decent job explaining old theories and explaining why they are not longer followed and introducing the updated theories. It was a book for my organometallics class!
